Hello fellow bridge players! I hope that you are staying safe and healthy while we manage through this pandemic.
Last week our District 6 Board of Directors met to elect our new BoD Officers who will assume their new roles on September 1, 2020.
David Rodney (NVBA) was elected president. I have worked with David for the last two years in his role as Vice President and I know he is a great leader. David has served as one of our representatives to the ACBL Board of Governors. Additionally, he worked on an ACBL task force looking into the future of bridge given the pandemic and the growth of players using Bridge Base Online to provide a means for continuing to play competitive bridge and earn masterpoints while we are not playing at our clubs and tournaments. David is fully prepared to take the helm.
Barry Fratkin (RBA) was elected Vice President. Barry has served as the President of the Richmond Bridge Association for several years and has served on our District Board as the Marketing and Communications Chair. He has been active for many years on the District 6 BoD, providing valuable input as we navigate issues and benefits affecting our district.
Kay Hughes (VA Peninsula) was re-elected to serve as Secretary. Kay keeps does an excellent job capturing and sharing minutes of our meetings and is quick to remind us of what we decided at previous meetings when needed. She keeps our contacts up-to-date and interfaces with the ACBL for reporting purposes.
Ron Spieker (NVBA) was re-elected as Treasurer. District 6 has been fortunate that Ron has served as our Treasurer for more that 10 years! He has done a yeoman’s job of keeping our books straight and producing and filing financial reports as required by the IRS and other governing bodies.
It has been my pleasure to serve as your President for the last two years working with an august group of Board Members who devote many hours for the game we all love. I will look for you online and at the “real” tables when it is safe to so.
