It Takes A Village

Summer is in full swing and the Richmond and Reston Regionals were a lot of fun thanks to all the volunteers who work very hard to deliver our tournaments. Up next is Hunt Valley (Aug 12) and Chesapeake (Nov 11).

Unlike some districts, no one is paid for all the hard work they put in to ensure that our tournaments are a success and the information you need is at your fingertips via this website. We are in need of volunteers to help keep this information up to date, e.g., GNT dates and winners. Training is provided and trust me, I am using the tool to write this report and I am not a “techno-wizard!” If you can help, please send me an email via the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the website’s home page.

We continue to monitor feedback from attendees at our tournaments and make changes to address the opportunities you identify to the best of our abilities. The new regional event schedule–morning & afternoon main events–continues to get accolades from participants. The semi-annual calendar of  D6 events mailed to your home is also a hit. Expect the next one late this fall for the first half of 2020.

Since I last wrote this letter, several of our members have had major successes! Congrats to Peter Boyd, Darnestown, MD, for his induction into the ACBL Hall of Fame; to Shawn Stringer, Silver Spring, MD, named the “ACBL Volunteer of the Year,” to Mark Dahl, Richmond, VA and Richard Oshlag, winners of the Memphis NABC Silodor Open Pairs, to Ron Kral, Reston, VA whose team finished first in the Transnational European Championships in Istanbul!

I’ll see you in Hunt Valley and Chesapeake!
